Newari

One of the indigenous communities in Nepal is the Newar community. Despite being a small minority, this community has played an important role in shaping the country's name, history, and culture. The word "Newar" literally means "inhabitant of Nepal," and while their language is also referred to as Newari or the Newar language, its official name is Nepali Bhasa. The Newar community developed in the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding areas, which are now part of a region that spans 12 districts known as the Nepal Mandala.
