Welcome!

Respected readers,

The official name of Nepal is the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. Nepal is a Himalayan country located in South Asia. The total area of this country, which extends from 26.22 to 30.27 degrees north latitude and 80.4 to 88.12 degrees east longitude, is 147,516 square kilometers. This area accounts for 0.03% of the total area of the earth and 0.3% of the Asian continent. As Nepal lies east of the Greenwich Mean Time, using 86.15 degrees east longitude near the Gaurishankar mountain as the reference point, the official time of Nepal is considered to be 5 hours and 45 minutes ahead of GMT.

The average length of Nepal from the eastern border of the Mechi River to the western border of the Mahakali River is 845 km. The width from north to south is not uniform, it is narrower in the east and wider in the west. The central region is somewhat indented. The maximum width is 241 km and the minimum width is 145 km, with an average width of 193 km in Nepal. Nepal shares its eastern, western, and southern borders with India, and its northern border with Tibet, an autonomous region of China. About 81% of the population of Nepal are Hindus, making it the country with the largest percentage of Hindus in the world. In addition to Hindus, people of other religions such as Buddhism, Islam, Kirant, Christian, etc. also reside here. Nepal's geographic diversity is noteworthy, especially for a small country. The plains of the Terai are situated on one side and the Himalayan range on the other, with 8 of the world's highest peaks located in Nepal, including Mount Everest, which is the highest peak in the world and is situated on the border of Nepal and China. The major city and capital of Nepal are Kathmandu. The districts of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur are collectively known as the Kathmandu Valley.

Regarding the topic of languages spoken in Nepal, in 2011, the National Census Board verified 123 languages. Additionally, six more languages have also been identified, but their recognition as local languages is still under consideration. If these six languages are also recognized, there will be a total of 129 mother tongues spoken in Nepal.

Several organizations and groups working in Nepal with a shared vision have been continuously providing audio bibles in all languages through the cooperation of "Awaaz" (voice). Accordingly, audio bibles and evangelistic films are available in 12 languages so far. You can also listen and watch them, gain spiritual benefits, and use them for personal and evangelistic purposes in your community.
